About the Test & Fertility Health

How does Sapyen compare to clinic-based testing?

Sapyen offers the same lab-based accuracy you’d get at a fertility clinic — without the awkward waiting rooms, time off work, or clinical collection rooms. Our mail-to-lab process delivers clinical results discreetly, conveniently, and affordably, making quality reproductive care accessible to more men.

How does Sapyen compare to other at-home tests?

Sapyen sets the global standard for male reproductive health and at-home testing. We use a patent-pending transportation medium that preserves sample viability for 72 hours — far beyond industry norms. We’re the only test with FDA, TGA, and CE registration and endorsed by leading IVF clinics worldwide. At $149, our test is more affordable than competitors charging $200–$400.

What does a semen analysis measure?

A semen analysis is a test that measures the quality and quantity of sperm in a semen sample. It looks at key factors like sperm count, movement, shape, and other important markers to give a clear picture of sperm health.

What’s sperm health vs. semen analysis?

Sperm health isn’t just about count. It’s about the quality, strength, and DNA integrity of the cells carrying half of life’s blueprint. A semen analysis gives you the numbers; sperm health reveals what they mean for your body, your goals, and your future.

What do ‘normal’ sperm parameters mean?

‘Normal’ refers to ranges set by the World Health Organization based on population studies. These cover factors like count, movement, shape, and volume. But remember — even numbers within normal ranges don’t tell the whole story. Every person’s situation is different, and a test is just one important piece of your health puzzle.

Do lifestyle factors show up in these test results?

Your semen analysis measures physical sperm traits, but health habits matter too. That’s why Sapyen includes a 148-point lifestyle assessment, linking your daily choices to sperm health for a clearer, fuller picture.

How does lifestyle impact reproductive health?

Your daily habits have a bigger impact than you might think. Factors like diet, exercise, stress, weight, and exposure to environmental toxins all play a role in fertility and reproductive health. The good news? Many of these are manageable, and small changes can improve outcomes over time.

How do lifestyle choices affect sperm health?

What you put into — and expose — your body matters. Smoking, excessive drinking, drug use, poor sleep, and even frequent exposure to heat or certain chemicals can lower sperm quality. On the flip side, healthy habits and preventative care can help improve sperm health and protect long-term fertility.

When should I consider adding a DNA fragmentation test?

A DNA fragmentation test digs deeper than a standard semen analysis by examining the quality and stability of the sperm’s genetic material. It’s especially valuable if:

  • You’ve been trying to conceive without success
  • You’ve experienced unsuccessful IVF or ICSI cycles
  • You’re over 40, as DNA quality naturally declines with age
  • Or you simply want a clearer picture of your sperm health beyond basic parameters

How often should I test my sperm health?

It’s a good idea to check in regularly, especially if you’re actively trying to conceive, planning for the future, or making lifestyle changes. Think of it like your annual physical — a smart, proactive way to track your reproductive health over time.

I’m not planning a family yet, should I still test?

Yes. Reproductive health is about more than immediate family planning. It’s a valuable marker of your overall wellbeing and can uncover issues early, giving you more options later. Whether you’re thinking about the future or just want clarity today, a simple test is a smart move.

Post-Vasectomy Testing (PVSA)

Why do I need a Post-Vasectomy Semen Analysis?

A PVSA confirms whether your vasectomy was successful in eliminating active sperm. Without it, there’s still a chance of pregnancy. It’s the only way to be certain your procedure worked.

When should I take a PVSA?

Urologists recommend testing three months after your vasectomy and after at least 20 ejaculations. This clears out any remaining sperm from your system and ensures the most accurate result.

Is a vasectomy 100% effective?

No — while highly effective, vasectomies can occasionally result in residual sperm or natural reconnection of the vas deferens. That’s why a PVSA is essential to confirm complete success.

What happens if my PVSA still shows sperm?

It’s not uncommon to find some remaining sperm early on. In this case, your doctor will likely recommend retesting after a few more weeks or ejaculations to confirm complete clearance.
